Bluetooth Hearing Aids
In our experience a lot of the hearing impaired community over the age of 70 don't perceive the benefit of Bluetooth technology and in specific Bluetooth hearing aids. I'm sure it has to do with the technological gap that people sometimes feel with newer technology in general as well as "just another thing to worry about" but I'm here to tell you that it doesn't have to be that way, at least not with Bluetooth capable hearing aids.
First off, what is Bluetooth technology?
Simply put, Bluetooth technology is a wireless signal that has a range of about 33 feet or 10 meters. It's a relatively week wireless signal compared to a cell phone, amplified cordless phone, or even wireless headphones, which means that it can be very small because the energy consumption is low.
How could Bluetooth capable hearing aids help me?
Bluetooth capable hearing aids are great for virtually anyone. They can help improve the quality of sound with the TV, Telephone, Cell Phone, and Spouse with out adding a lot of complication to the hearing aid experience over all.
Bluetooth hearing aids can improve your life in multiple ways every single day. For example, a Bluetooth hearing aid can wirelessly connect to your cell phone or home phone. By doing this not only are you making that device hands free you’re also amplifying your phone through the hearing aids at the proper level for your hearing loss and you’re receiving a sound signal in both ears, which increases the overall speech clarity!
This can be the difference between poor hearing quality on the phone and excellent speech clarity on the phone. It’s a phenomenal increase in speech clarity with most patients.
Now take the TV for example; with a Bluetooth hearing aid your TV will wirelessly send the sound on the TV right to your Bluetooth hearing aids at the proper amplified level even if the TV is muted. Now your spouse, neighbors, and family can feel more comfortable with the TV at a lower volume without sacrificing the volume and clarity that you require. It truly is a win-win for everyone!
How easy is it really?
Have you ever turned the volume up or down on your TV remote? Have you ever answered a telephone? I’m not lying when I tell you it’s that easy.
Once the Bluetooth hearing aids are synced to your cell phone or home phone (this is done in the office by your licensed hearing aid dispenser) all you have to do is turn on the Bluetooth remote and whenever you receive a phone call, answer the phone as you normally would. The Bluetooth hearing aid will automatically transmit the sound to your ears.
The TV is the same, but with one more step involved. You will plug the Bluetooth adapter for the hearing aids into your TV (one time) and then you’re ready to go. Anytime you want to use it all you have to do is turn on the power switch and they will do the rest automatically.
So, if you’re interesting in making your life easier and improving your hearing at the same time, consider trying a set of Bluetooth hearing aids. Even if you just purchased a set of hearing aids, they might be capable of becoming a Bluetooth hearing aid with the proper adjustments and accessories. In any case they can drastically improve your speech clarity in certain environments.
We hope this helps and as always, if you have any questions please feel free to call or email us anytime. Thanks for reading and we hope to hear from you soon!
